COMMITTEES



MAABB COMMITTEE GUIDELINES


The president shall be the Chairman of the Board and preside at its meetings, and shall be an ex officio member of all committees. The president shall appoint chairs to all committees with the approval of the Board of Directors. These chairs are encouraged to attend board meetings.

COMMITTEE STRUCTURE

A member of the Board of Directors shall be assigned to each committee by the president to act as the committee's liaison with the board. These board members shall review the activities and recommendations of their committees. They shall provide the board with an outline of committee objectives and recommend appropriate action as needed.

EDUCATION COMMITTEE

The overall committee goal is to promote education in the field of blood banking.

The committee mission is to provide guidance and support for all MAABB educational programs. On an annual basis the committee will coordinate the efforts for hosting of regional workshops and ancillary meetings by posting goals for both, announcing dates and sites for all planned activities during the year and conducting a mini-survey to solicit member suggestions for education topics, host facilities and meeting formats.

The committee will be composed of the Education Committee chair, chairs and co-chairs of other committees that plan regional workshops and ancillary meetings, a clerical/desktop publisher, survey administrator and board liaison.

The committee may carry out their purpose by:
  1. Working jointly with the Annual Seminar Committee on the workshops for the annual meeting.
  2. Working jointly with the Member Relations Committee to publicize upcoming workshops and meetings, identify members who would like to serve on the Education Committee and posting committee meeting reports.
  3. Directing and coordinating activities of committees involved in preparing workshops and ancillary meetings.
  4. Awarding the Susan L. Wilkinson Student Scholarship Award to an individual enrolled in a Medical Technology (MT) or Specialist in Blood Banking (SBB) program.
    ANNUAL MEETING COMMITTEE

    The overall committee goal is to organize all aspects of the annual meeting.

    The committee mission is to develop a comprehensive program for the annual meeting to enable education of attendees through structured programs, vendor exhibits and social programs designed to encourage interaction and promote exchange of information, while staying within the determined budget.

    The committee shall be composed of the Annual Meeting Committee chair, annual seminar co-chairs, exhibits coordinator, registration team member, clerical/desk top publisher for annual meeting materials and a board liaison.

    The committee may carry out their purpose by:

    1. Working closely with the Board of Directors to meet organizational goals for annual meetings, gather details on local arrangements and provide feedback on future sites.
    2. Holding planning sessions to work out logistics for annual meetings, the Annual Meeting chair will organize planning sessions and provide reports to the Board of Directors.

      1. Annual seminar co-directors will oversee the scientific portion of the annual meeting, which is a full day's program. They will outline the topics, project expenses and invite speakers with the board's approval. Plans for the program must be finalized ninety days prior to the annual meeting to facilitate printing, collating and posting of the preliminary program.
      2. Exhibits coordinator will invite manufacturers/vendors to exhibit at the annual meeting and coordinate the vendor game.
      3. Clerical/publisher will assist the chair with committee reports, design the preliminary program and finalize it for distribution at the meeting.
      4. Registration coordinator will assist with the design of the registration form for the annual meeting, receive all payments, generate a list of attendees and provide name badges and receipts for registrants.

    MEMBER RELATIONS COMMITTEE


    The overall committee goal is to facilitate communications with MAABB members.

    The committee mission is to effectively recruit members, manage publications including the website and Infusion, maintain the membership database and market the organization in various forums.

    The committee shall be composed of the Member Relations chair, the Infusion editor and assistant editor, the database manager and assistant manager, marketing team member(s), website director and assistant director, mailing and distribution coordinator, clerical/desktop publisher for committee reports and Infusion, vice president of MAABB to serve as board liaison.

    The committee may carry out their purpose by:

    1. Receiving and renewing membership applications.
    2. Maintaining an accurate member database.
    3. Publishing the Infusion newsletter.
    4. Posting information on the website.
    5. Designing the booth for the MAABB annual meetings and other outside meetings.
